Stir It Up - Lesbian Health Forum‘When love hurts: it happens in our community too’ Domestic Violence within Lesbian Relationships. Violence within lesbian relationships is often misunderstood or denied. The experiences of lesbians in this situation are silenced, not only by the broader community, but within our community too. But it happens, and has devastating effects on members of our community, their friends and families. On Tuesday the 29th of November 2005, the Same Sex Domestic Violence Working Group and ACON's Lesbian Health Project held a community foum at the Black Pan Cafe, Erskineville. About 30 women attended & heard talks from Priscilla McCorriston of St George Domestic Violence Counselling Service and Kate, a Gay & Lesbain Liaison Officer with NSW Police.
